AI in Computer Science in Elementary Schools
A comprehensive educational concept for introducing AI in computer science classes at the elementary level (ideally for children aged 8 to 11), offered as part of the AI Curriculum for Elementary and Secondary Schools, is called Hoo & Ray. It includes a total of nine teaching materials designed for 45 to 90 minute lessons.
Through engaging stories and hands-on activities, children follow the adventures of Hoo & Ray—two eager but often clumsy robots who want to help people but frequently mix things up. Their journey introduces young learners to key AI concepts, including data, machine learning, bias, language models, and ambient intelligence.
In Hoo & Ray, no devices are used—children work entirely with paper.

Hoo & Ray Learning Progress Map
